In 2012 up to 2014 toured Hot Club d’Europe through Belgium, the Netherlands and several times in Finland. This band consists of the talented Olli Soikkeli on guitar, the experienced bassist Arnoud van den Berg and the strings wonder gipsy jazz guitarist Paulus Schäfer. A formation which represents surprising and swinging gypsy jazz. Both solo guitarists are frequently asked for concerts with other bands in Europe and USA Early 2012 Paulus Schäfer met Olli Soikkeli for the first time in theater Rataplan in Antwerp. The start of a successful partnership.
A few months later Paul Schäfer and bassist Arnoud van den Berg were invited to join Olli Soikkeli to record an album. In a wooden chalet near a frozen lake at the Finnish town Kouvola arises a spontaneous musical interaction. The album ‘Kouvola Junction’ is characterized by a vibrant energetic sound and original interpretation of songs and an original composition and title song. An honest directly recorded live recording without corrections. Pure gypsy jazz without antics!

Deze band bestaat uit de getalenteerde Olli Soikkeli op gitaar, de ervaren bassist Arnoud van den Berg en het snarenwonder gipsy jazz guitarist Paulus Schäfer. Een formatie die staat voor verassende en swingende gipsy jazz. Beide solo-gitaristen worden veelvuldig gevraagd voor concerten in Europa en USA met andere bands. Begin 2012 ontmoet Paulus Schäfer Olli Soikkeli voor de eerste keer in het Antwerpse theater Rataplan. Een start van een succesvolle samenwerking.
Enkele maanden later worden Paulus Schäfer en de bassist Arnoud van den Berg uitgenodigd om met Olli Soikkeli een album op te nemen. In een houten chalet aan een bevroren meer bij de Finse stad Kouvola ontstaat een spontane muzikale interactie. Het album wordt gekenmerkt door een levendige energieke sound en een originele interpretatie van songs en een eigen compositie, die tegelijkertijd titelsong is. Kortom: een eerlijke direct opgenomen live-opname zonder correcties achteraf. Pure gypsy jazz zonder fratsen!
