Dominique Paats has made international career as first accordionist at the Malando Orchestra where this talent can be hardly missed. Paulus Schäfer is internationally one of the most talented and in demand gypsy swing jazz guitarist. The encounter of these giants arises spontaneously in Maastricht at the end of 2012 and blazes from the very beginning. No imposed pandoer nor a straitjacket of unwritten rules. This is pure freedom to play and enjoy. It happens intuitively and with so much ease. Those two exchange solos from, respond to each other, communicate with their instruments, whips each other in a musical game and always with respect for one other. Classicals of Django Reinhardt, the Great American Songbook and their own original compositions are their oeuvre. In short a riveting and virtuoso spectacle played with heart and soul!

The CD album ‘Rocky’ of Dominique Paats & Paulus Schäfer Trio has been released last November 2014.

Dominique Paats heeft internationale carrière gemaakt als eerste accordeonist bij het Malando-orkest waar dit talent nauwelijks gemist kan worden. Paulus Schäfer is internationaal een van de meest getalenteerde en veelgevraagde gypsy swing jazz gitarist. Het treffen van deze giganten ontstaat eind 2012 spontaan in Maastricht en vlamt van het prille begin. Geen opgelegd pandoer noch een keurslijf van ongeschreven regels. Dit is pure vrijheid om te spelen en te genieten. Het gebeurt intuïtief en met zoveel gemak. Die twee wisselen solo’s uit, reageren op elkaar, communiceren met hun instrumenten, zwepen elkaar op in een muzikaal spel en steeds met respect voor elkaar. Klassiekers van Django Reinhardt, het Great American Songbook en eigen composities zijn hun oeuvre. Kortom een meeslepend en virtuoos schouwspel met hart en ziel vertolkt!

In november verscheen het nieuwe Cd album ‘Rocky’ van Dominique Paats en Paulus Schäfer Trio. Een album om te zoenen!
