Vanzelfsprekend hebben Tim Kliphuis, Paulus Schäfer en Feigeli Prisor regelmatig met elkaar gespeeld. Afgelopen zomer op het Sziget Festival in Budapest, het International Gipsy Festival in Tilburg en DjangoFest NW in Seattle USA. Muzikaal hebben ze elkaar gevonden in de klassieke en moderne vorm van de gipsy jazz. Gipsy Spring is daarvan het resultaat.
Gipsy Spring bestaat uit twee muzikale interpretaties voortkomend uit eenzelfde traditie : Hot Club de France.
De eerste set zijn klassiekers van Django Reinhardt, die worden uitgevoerd door Prisor Jazz Band en Tim Kliphuis. Feigeli Prisor soleert op zijn gitaar. Het gaat niet om vingervlugge virtuositeit alleen. Deze gitarist speelt loepzuiver, subtiel en heel volledig. In soli wordt hij afgewisseld door de veelzijdige violist Tim Kliphuis. Tim is beïnvloed door diverse stijlen o.a. gipsy jazz. Natuurlijk citeert hij daarbij uit Stéphane Grappelli Gypsy Jazz Book.
De tweede set omvat een vertolking van moderne Gipsy Jazz waarin invloeden en elementen uit de pop-muziek verweven zijn. Dit komt voor rekening van Paulus Schäfer (Gipsy Band) en Tim Kliphuis. Twee solisten, die de grenzen opzoeken van de gipsy jazz. Het tempo van Paulus Schäfer ligt vaak hoog; alles in zijn spel is luchtig en zuiver. Zijn solopartijen zijn onnavolgbaar en verrassend. Tim Kliphuis reageert daarop fris, nieuw, en verkennend. De Engelse krant ‘Scotsman’ schreef over Tim Kliphuis een “elegante toon en zorgeloze geest".

Naturally Tim Kliphuis, Paul Schäfer and Feigeli Prisor have played together regularly. Past summer at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, the International Gypsy Festival in Tilburg and Django Fest NW Seattle USA. Gipsy Spring consists of two musical interpretations comes from the same tradition: Hot Club de France.
The first set are classics of Django Reinhardt, performed by Prisor Jazz Band and Tim Kliphuis. Feigeli Prisor solos on his guitar are not only dexterous virtuosity. This guitarist plays flawless, subtle and very complete. In solos, he alternated with the versatile violinist Tim Kliphuis. Tim is influenced by various styles including gipsy jazz. Of course he quotes from Stephane Grappelli Gipsy Jazz Book.
The second set includes a modern interpretation of modern gipsy jazz with influences and elements of pop music. This is done by Paul Schäfer (Gipsy Band) and Tim Kliphuis. Two soloists, which limits the search for the gypsy jazz. These two soloists test the limits of the gypsy jazz. The tempo of Paul Schäfer is often high, everything in his playing is airy and pure. His solos are often surprising and inimitable. Tim Kliphuis’ violin responds to them fresh, new and exploratory. The English newspaper "Scotsman" wrote Tim Kliphuis an "elegant tone and carefree spirit".
